Pusat Zakat Melaka (PZM) has extended
the time to open counters at headquarters each working day from 8.00 am
to 6.00 pm in providing facilities to perform the Muslim community claims
to pay Zakat Fitrah and Zakat Harta. On Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays,
the PZM operates from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. In addition, Customer Service
Counter at the well known supermarkets also will be opened every day from
10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
PZM also would like to remind all Muslims to take the opportunity provided for the payment of Zakat Fitrah and Zakat Harta to the centre and Amil Zakat Melaka which have been given credentials by the Malacca Islamic Religious Council in ensuring the adequacy of Zakat in the month of Ramadan.
For Zakat Emas, the gold ornaments worn, must be subjected to Zakat after the gold weight exceeds the rate of 200gm uruf as was decided in the State Fatwa Council which is chaired by the SS. Datuk Wira Hj. Redza Rashid bin Md. Saleh; Mufti Melaka State Government. Uruf rate means the rate of adoption of the local gold for a time.
