Pusat Zakat Melaka - Introduction

Pusat Zakat Melaka is under responsibility of Lembaga Wakaf, Zakat and Baitulmal, Majlis Agama Islam Melaka (MAIM) before its being privatize by the Melaka Government. The scopes of works are more focus on administration and distribute the revenue of zakat according to the Syarak Administration Law Enactment 1959. This enactment was created because to repalace the traditional method that the Islamic teacher entrusted to collect and distribute zakat.On year 1993, zakat system was upgraded by established Computerisation Zakat Counter that the role is still maintained with collecting and distributed zakat. KZB took a drastic step by establishing 5 branches of zakat centre at Merlimau, Alor Gajah, Jasin Masjid Tanah and Graha Maju Building for giving services and for the zakat payer via computerisation technology.

The use of the name of KZB was replaced by Pusat . Zakat Melaka with more interactive and suitable and also emphasis on privatisation inside the organisation. On 22nd September PZM was corporate under Company Act 1965 therefore zakat responsibility zakat was separated. PZM was been given the trustworthy to collecting zakat under administration of Majlis Agama Islam Melaka. PZM headquarters is at Kompleks Al-Azim Fasa 2.Now PZM already had 6 branches. There are at Merlimau, Jasin, Pulau Sebang, Melaka Sentral, Alor Gajah and Masjid Tanah in term to give facilities to the muslim society for doing ibadah zakat
